Physical Rehab and Movement in Arlington Heights
Most people have been handed exercises at some point. A printed sheet, a link, three movements to do at home. Very few have had anyone watch them do those movements and correct the form, which is usually the difference between exercises you were given and exercises that are doing something.
Momentum Health Center has Braden Beaver, a dedicated patient exercise coordinator, which most chiropractic offices in Arlington Heights do not. He takes you through the programme in the office and checks your form and technique as you go. Adjustments restore the position, rehab is what keeps it, and functional movement screening tells us where to start rather than guessing.
What Does Physical Rehab Involve?
We begin with a functional movement screen, which looks at how you actually move rather than how a single joint tests in isolation. That shows us which patterns are compensating and where load is going that should not be. From there you get a programme built around those specific findings, coached in the office until the movement is right, and progressed as you improve. Dr. Dziurgot is also a Titleist Performance Institute Golf Fitness Instructor, so golfers can have their swing mechanics assessed as part of this. The screen takes a few minutes and gives us something concrete to work from, rather than a general instruction to strengthen your core. Programmes are deliberately short, because a programme you will actually do beats a comprehensive one you abandon in a fortnight.
Benefits of Physical Rehab
What rehab adds to the rest of your care:
- Adjustments That Hold: Strengthening the supporting muscles is what stops the same correction being needed weekly.
- Form Checked in Person: Braden watches you do the work rather than sending you home with a sheet.
- Movement Screening First: The programme is built on findings rather than on a template.
- Injury Prevention: Correcting the pattern lowers the chance of the same problem returning.
- Golf-Specific Assessment: TPI screening is available for players who want the swing looked at.
- Progressive Loading: The programme changes as you do, rather than staying static.
Common Conditions Physical Rehab May Help
Rehab is part of the plan for:
- Back pain and neck pain
- Recovery after car accident and whiplash injury
- Herniated discs once acute symptoms settle
- Sciatica with a movement component
- Postural strain from desk work
- Golf and recreational sport performance
What to Expect at Your Visit
How rehab runs here:
- Functional Movement Screen: We look at the patterns, not just the painful joint.
- Your Programme: Built around what the screen found, and demonstrated in the office.
- Coaching and Correction: Braden checks your form until the movement is right.
- Progress Tracking: The programme advances as your capacity does.
Rehab is usually introduced during the corrective phase of care, once the acute symptoms have settled. It pairs closely with Soft Tissue Therapy when restricted tissue is limiting the movement.
Make the Correction Stick
If your adjustments keep helping and keep wearing off, the missing piece is almost always what happens between visits. Rehab is where most of the durable change happens, and having someone watch you do it is the part that is hard to replicate at home. Braden works with patients across the whole age range, not only athletes.
